The Agricultural Future & Training Initiative (AFTI) Shared Harvest Program bridges the critical gap between Willamette Valley landowners—such as aging farmers or widows with under-utilized, idle acreage—and our motivated Next-Generation Growers.
Across Linn County and surrounding regions, many valuable agricultural parcels sit under-productive because physical labor and daily maintenance have become overwhelming for solo owners. At the same time, our trained young adults need land access to build their agricultural independence.
Through extension-backed expertise (partnering with OSU Extension Service), our trainee teams step in to restore these parcels to active cultivation. Using sustainable practices, high-value specialty crops, and culinary mushrooms, we generate mutual economic revitalization: landowners receive a reliable secondary income stream and maintained property without the backbreaking labor, while trainees build vital production track records and startup capital. Furthermore, a dedicated portion of every harvest directly supports local food security initiatives through community food boxes.
